Hey everyone, Chad here! I just wrapped up an incredibly intense and exhilarating double header race week with my Legend Car. From the early morning hustle to the nail-biting races and everything in between, it was a week to remember. Let's dive into the highlights and lessons learned!
Day 1: The Hustle and Tuning Troubles
Monday kicked off with a bang. I had my Legend Car tuned by the fantastic team at INEX, and let me tell you, it made a world of difference. The car cranked better, idled smoothly, and felt more responsive on the track. For weeks, I’d been dealing with clutch issues, thinking they were the root of my problems. But thanks to INEX, I discovered it was a throttle position sensor issue. They tuned it up, and I was ready to roll.
Creature Comforts for the Big Guys
Being a bigger guy, fitting comfortably in my Legend Car is always a challenge. I made some simple yet effective adjustments to make my life easier. Using Velcro to keep my seat belts in place was a game-changer. No more struggling to get strapped in! This little modification saved me precious time and made getting in and out of the car much smoother.
Qualifying Drama and Race Day Madness
Qualifying was a mixed bag. I worked on my technique with iRacing, but the car felt loose. Despite the challenges, I managed to improve my lap times. Day one saw me struggling with GoPro issues and a lack of practice, but I still had a blast. I even hit my best lap time ever, getting down into the 18s!
Race day brought its own set of challenges. I started at the back, but my goal was to stay consistent and improve. The INEX team’s advice helped me avoid stalling and kept me competitive. Despite a few mistakes, like overshooting turns and struggling with shifts, I felt more in control and faster than before.
Crashes and Comebacks
Race two didn’t go as planned. After a caution, everyone checked up, and I ended up in a crash. My Legend Car took some damage, but thankfully, it wasn’t anything I couldn’t fix. The team at INEX was quick to get me back on track, and I managed to finish the race, albeit with some setbacks.
Reflecting on the crash, I realized that racing is unpredictable. It’s all part of the learning process. Watching footage from my GoPro, I could see where I went wrong and how I could improve next time. Every race is a chance to learn and get better.
Fourth of July Celebrations
Amidst all the racing chaos, I took a moment to celebrate the Fourth of July with my family. Grilling out and enjoying fireworks was the perfect way to unwind after a hectic race week. It reminded me why I love racing – it’s not just about the competition but also the community and support from family and friends.
Looking Ahead
This race week taught me a lot about perseverance and the importance of continuous improvement. With the help of INEX and the support of my family, I’m more motivated than ever to keep pushing and get better. I’ll be making some adjustments to my Legend Car, including fixing the bumper and tuning the shifter, to ensure I’m ready for the next race.
